Monday, 12th May
We meet at Malta International Airport at 07:00 for flight KM306, which departs at 09:05, and arrive in Munich at 11:35. Afterward, a city walking tour with a local guide, where we will see the central square, Marianplatz, dominated by the towers of Frauenkirche, a 15th-century church, Max Joseph Platz, and the Opera House. We will also see the famous Glockenspiel clock on the façade of the Neues Rathaus, located in the same square. Then, we will visit Karlsplatz with its famous fountain and beautiful shopping streets. Afterward, free time to further explore this lovely city and shop. We continue to the center of Munich, Germany, where we will stay at the Hotel Wallis 3*. Check-in, and then an outing with the leader.
Tuesday, 13th May
Discover the beauty of Neuschwanstein Castle, King Ludwig’s castle, built in a Neo-Romanesque style and world-famous. We will also visit Marian Bridge, from where we can take photos of the castle. We will visit Hohenschwangau Castle, where we will have the opportunity to enter and enjoy the beauty of this castle (entrance fee extra). Afterward, we will visit the village of Füssen, a popular resort for holidays and spas, also located at the foothills of the Alps. Here, we will take a tour of the historic center.
Wednesday, 14th May
A history-filled excursion as we visit the famous city of Salzburg. As everyone knows, this city is not only a historic and beautiful place but also famous for its connection to the iconic musical film The Sound of Music. Therefore, we will see the cathedral, Residence Square, Market Square, Getreidegasse, and Mozart’s house. We will also visit Capital Square, from where we can take the funicular (extra charge) to Hohensalzburg Fortress. We will also visit the Watchtower and the Rainer Museum, which houses a collection of medieval weapons. In the evening, an outing with the leader.
Thursday, 15th May
After breakfast, we have an excursion to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a famous German ski resort. This resort was the venue for the 1936 Winter Olympics. From here, we will continue our journey to Zugspitze, where we will take the cogwheel train (extra charge) to the top of this mountain, which is also the highest mountain in Germany (10,000 feet). Here, we will see scenery that is sure to be unforgettable, with a spectacular lake in Bavaria. We will return to the hotel afterward.
Friday, 16th May
An excursion to Augsburg, one of the oldest and historically most important cities in Germany. We will see some of the most popular attractions, such as the Augsburg City Hall (Augsburger Rathaus) and the Cathedral. Afterward, we will have free time for personal sightseeing. Transfer to Munich Airport for flight KM309, which departs at 19:00 and arrives back in Malta at 21:20.
