The First Day

We meet the tour leader at Malta International Airport at 04:15 for flight KM 586 to Madrid, departing at 06:55 and arriving at 09:55. Upon arrival, we proceed to the town of Aranjuez, situated on the river Tajo, which was developed in the sixteenth century by King Philip II. The city boasts gardens, canals, and palaces, becoming a significant royal summer residence under the Bourbon monarchy in the eighteenth century. We visit the Royal Palace, Aranjuez Gardens, and explore the historic center, including the Sant Antonio churches and the Pavia quarter. Then, we head to Madrid and check in at the centrally located Hotel Santo Domingo 4*. Room arrangements are made.

The Second Day

After breakfast, we embark on a 'Panoramic & Walking' city tour of Madrid. Highlights include the majestic Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, La Cibeles and Neptuno fountains, Plaza de Colon, Puerta Del Sol, Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Europa Towers, Azcai, Plaza De Oriente, Gran Via, and the Gothic cathedral La Almudena.

 

The Third Day

We start the day with a buffet breakfast, followed by a delightful excursion to the mountainous area of Sierra De Guadarrama. Our first stop is the city of Segovia, known for its Roman heritage, featuring an impressive fort built in the first century and the iconic Alcazar castle (entrance not included). Next, we visit Avila, the capital city of the region, surrounded by fortified walls with 88 towers. Highlights include the twelfth-century cathedral, Basilica San Vincente, and the convent associated with Santa Teresa. We return to Madrid, with an evening outing led by the tour leader.

The Fourth Day

Following breakfast, we depart for Toledo, situated on a hill in central Spain, renowned as a city of three cultures – Christian, Jewish, and Arab. We explore the historic center with its winding streets and diverse architectural styles, visiting the El Greco cathedral (entrance not included). Optional activities include a journey with the Toledo Train Vision (extra), providing a 45-minute tour. Free time is allotted for shopping and personal exploration. Around 14:30, we transfer to Madrid airport for flight KM587 departing at 21:30, arriving back in Malta at 00:15.
