First Day We meet at Malta International Airport at 10:30 for flight KM624, which departs at 12:35 and arrives in Milan at 14:40. Transfer by coach to Arona, where we will be accommodated at the 4-star Hotel Concorde. Room allocation and later, with the tour leader, we will go on a tour of the city center. Dinner at the hotel.
Second Day Buffet breakfast. Free morning in Arona as there is a market every Tuesday where you can find everything you need. At around 12:30, we embark on an excursion to Lago D'Orta, one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. A short journey takes us to Orta. A tour with the leader will lead us to Sacro Monte, dedicated to Saint Francis. Here, we find 20 chapels depicting episodes from the life and miracles of Saint Francis. Next, we visit Orta, where the leader will guide us through the narrow, picturesque streets of this town. We see the Town Hall, and from the garden, we enjoy a beautiful panorama of the lake and Isola San Giulio, the main square filled with restaurants and cafes, and a number of small shops with traditional products. Free time where you can visit Isola San Giulio (extra boat trip). We return to the hotel for dinner.
Third Day One of the most interesting excursions takes us to Switzerland, where we will visit the city of Lugano – the capital of the Canton of Ticino – and Ascona, located on Lake Maggiore. First, we visit the city of Lugano, where we will have an interesting tour with the tour leader. Here we discover the historic center, the Church of Santa Maria Degli Angeli, and walk along the lake of Lugano surrounded by mountains. We will have some free time. We then go to Ascona, located at the northern end of Lake Maggiore. A tour of the old town, a walk through the picturesque streets filled with restaurants and cafes that lead us to the promenade. Free time and return to the hotel.
Fourth Day An exciting excursion to Como where, during a tour with the leader, we will see Piazza Cavour, Piazza Volta, Citta Vecchia, and the Duomo, made of white marble in Gothic style. We will also see the famous Lake Como. A cruise on Lake Como (extra) will take us to Bellagio, known as the "Pearl of the Lake." Together with the tour leader, we will explore the town center with many beautiful streets and the stunning promenade. We will have free time for food and sightseeing. Afterwards, we return to Arona by coach.
Fifth Day Today's trip will take us to the city of Bergamo. The city of Bergamo can be considered as two cities in one – Città Bassa (Lower City) and Città Alta (Upper City). Together with the tour leader, we will discover these cities surrounded by ancient fortifications and full of narrow streets. Among other things, we will see Via Sentierone and the Palazzo di Giustizia. Afterwards, we take the funicular (extra) to visit Bergamo Alta, the most beautiful part of the city, where we will see Piazza Vecchia, Palazzo della Ragione, Cappella Colleoni, and the Baptistery. On our way back to Arona, we will stop at the shopping center ‘Arese’. We return to the hotel.
Sixth Day Discover with us the beauty of Macugnaga in the most spectacular journey, passing through the Anzasca Valley surrounded by mountains. Macugnaga, located under the Monte Rosa mountain, is a traditional Alpine village. From there, we take a chairlift (extra) to ascend Monte Rosa, where we will see picturesque views of the Alps and glaciers. A unique experience that will never be forgotten! Dinner and a walk with the leader.
Seventh Day Today, an excursion to visit the Borromean Islands. We depart for Stresa, where we take a boat to visit the islands. First, we go to Isola Bella, where we visit the Renaissance palace of the aristocratic Borromean family and the botanical garden, Salone d'Onore, Sala Delle Colonne, Sala della Musica, Galleria degli Arazzi, and the Artificial Grottos. This majestic palace, built in Gothic style, is decorated with a beautiful garden. Next, we visit Isola dei Pescatori, a medieval island with narrow streets and stunning views. We also visit Isola Madre. Afterward, we transfer to Linate Airport for the flight KM627, departing from Milan at 20:45 and arriving back in Malta at 22:45. Group A departs on KM625 at 15:35 and arrives in Malta at 17:35. The excursion on the second day is exchanged with the one on the seventh day.
