France, Germany, Switzerland & the Black Forest

Based in the interesting town of Mulhouse, in France, explore with us surrounding countries. Prepare your cameras as our first stop will be at the picturesque village of Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland. Be silent and listen to the sound of water at  Trummelback Falls.  Visit with us the town of Grindelwald and hop on a cable car which takes you up to the top of Mannlichen Mountain. Warm your hands around a cup of hot chocolate and taste the surrounding view. This will set the mood for more magnificent views, this time, at the town of Interlaken. A picture tells a thousand words and here many words will be told as the surroundings lend themselves to a full albumn. Scenery is both amazing and calming as you look up to Jungfrau and Eiger Mountains.

Back to France, to the elegant city of Strasbourg. Enjoy Petite France, the most picturesque district of Old Strasbourg, where streets have been built level with the waterways and where once fishermen, millers and tanners earned their livelihood.  Count the flags swaying in the wind at the Palais de l’Europe. Take a stroll through the green surroundings of the Parc de l’Orangerie. Be impressed by the outstanding Strasbourg Notre Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art.  The journey continues to the unique village of Riquewihr with its preserved architecture where time seems to have stopped. Visit Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas shop and take home lovely decorations as momentoes of this lovely experience.

Be adventurous at Europa Park, the biggest theme park in Germany. Ride high on the roller coasters or row low in a canoe. Don’t miss out on the spectacular shows aimed for the young and not so young.

Continue the fairytale in Colmar, a town in France, popular for its traditional houses, canals, blooming flowers and very tasteful wine.  Hop on the touristic train to admire the history and culture of this preserved town. Absorb the surroundings at little Venice and count the canoes as they pass by swiftly.  Discover where Bartholdi, the mind behind the Statue of Liberty in New York, lived and look closer at the models of his monuments. 

Back to the Switzerland, a small country with huge international significance where we spend a day in Lucerne, found in the central of the country embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Take a photo of the oldest wooden bridge, one of a kind, containing some remaining paintings dating back to the 17th century. Make a stop at the Jesuit Church and say a prayer for your loved ones in this baroque building.  From baroque to the Italian Renaissance style, admire the Town Hall with its overhanging roof. Feel romantic and far away from the modern world by transporting yourself back in time to the beautiful and peaceful old town of Lucerne. Visit the Lion Monument, carved in rock, a commemoration of the Swiss Guards who gave their lives during the French Revolution.

Venture back to Germany and spend a day at the Black Forest. Admire the beauty of St. Peter’s  Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery, in the village of St. Peters in Schwarzwald.  Travel to Triberg town  and take back home a hand made cuckoo clock or a music box.  Join us to experience from close the Triberg waterfalls and admire the squirrels jumping from one tree to the other. Finish off the day at Titisee Town and take a stroll around Lake Titisee. Feel the fresh air both while walking close to the water or the trail going up to Hochfirst Mountain,  inhaling the splendid views over the valley as you go along. If you’re not the adventureous type, no worries as you can either relax and take in the not to be missed views or join a cruise on the lake, whichever you prefer.
